As a senior-level (GS-15) research microbiologist in the U.S. EPA Office of Research & Development, and a member of the Graduate Faculty of the University of Georgia, my environmental research has been published by Nature, Nature Medicine, Lancet and other leading peer-reviewed science and medical journals. It has also been covered by National Geographic, Reader's Digest, Time magazine, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, the NY Times, Washington Post, London Times, NPR's All Things Considered, PBS Healthweek, ABC's Primetime Live, BBC Panorama and other major news organizations. I was awarded the Science Achievement Award in 2000 presented by EPA Administrator Carol Browner, and the 2018 Sierra Club Distinguished Service Award. For Earth Day 2018, PBS Independent Lens aired the Hyrax Film Documentary "What Lies Upstream," which interviews Professor Marc Edwards at Virginia Tech and me regarding environmental pollutants linked to autism and other public health problems.
